12 Things Pastors Won’t Hear in Heaven
Occasionally it is
good to step back and wonder about the types of the things you probably will
not hear in heaven.
So I imagine a
scenario where someone that the Lord has called me to shepherd walks up to me
in heaven and says, I sure wish that you’d have...
Here are 12 things I doubt would fill in that blank.
1. I wish you’d have
shown me more rapture charts.
2. I wish you’d have
told me steps to making more money.
3. I wish you’d have prepared
me for what heaven looks like.
4. I wish you’d have
settled those theological debates.
5. I wish you’d have
done funnier skits in our worship service.
6. I wish you’d have
pushed for a bigger building.
7. I wish you’d have
talked more about politics.
8. I wish you’d have
preached much shorter sermons.
9. I wish you’d have
worn ties (or cooler jeans for our postmodern crowd).
10. I wish you’d have
given us better pop-culture references.
11. I wish you’d have
made our worship ambiance better and the transitions smoother.
12. I wish you’d have
spent the money to fix that pot-hole in the church parking lot.
I could probably keep going.
Some of these
things might be important and they might even be a means to serve and assist
people in worship. But they are not ultimate.
What I don’t want
to fill that blank would be, “I wish you’d have pointed us to Jesus more. I
wish you’d have prepared us for heaven better. I wish you’d have preached more
to root out sin and unbelief. I wish you’d have encouraged us to lay down our
idols more.”
Those are the
things I don’t want to hear.
What I do want to
hear is the sweet and grace filled words of the Chief Shepherd, “Well done good
and faithful servant."
Imagining the
things you won't hear in eternity really does impact your ministry today.

5 Reasons Parents Should Join This Lifegroup
Parents
of Students and Young Adults,
Guess what? Pastor Dale and Becky are leading a new Life Group that is forming to serve you, our wonderful Parents of Teens and Young Adults.
Guess what? Pastor Dale and Becky are leading a new Life Group that is forming to serve you, our wonderful Parents of Teens and Young Adults.
This group a little different from the
usual group. Here are 5 reasons parents who are available on Wednesday nights should join:
- First, it meets at the church for convenience, starting just after 7pm and
ending as the student groups let out.
- Second, you are welcome to just drop in a "try it out" for the first
3 weeks. No commitment.
- Third, it will meet for only 10 weeks, ending on December 12th. Then if you
want to sign up for another session, we start a new 10 week session in
mid-January. This way new families can join, or you can switch to another group
if you wish.
- Fourth, it will be a "sermon-based" study that explores the content
and application of the sermon from Sunday morning. No additional study
required.
- Fifth, we will also be discussing, "How does this truth apply to our parenting of young adults?" So expect some great discussion that applies directly to your phase of life!
Dale and Becky have journeyed through your stage of life and experienced some great highlights along the way. So we would love to invite you to try this new Life Group on Wednesday evenings. If it works for you... come try it, then consider sticking around for the first 10 week run!
Hope to see you around 7pm in "The Hub" - the room on the 2nd floor along Regal Road. Just drop off your students and join us. We will make sure you are finished in time to connect with your Jr. High or High School students.
P.S. This is Room A6 - it also says "Ministry Offices" on the sign outside the door.

1st Sunday of the Month: Worship Together Weekends!
On the first Sunday of every month, high schoolers
are invited to attend the 2nd service @ 10:45 with their families in the Seacoast
Worship Center. During these weekends, the HSM will also be serving together on
the Plaza during the 9am service. The purpose of Worship Together Weekends help
teenagers and adults feel like they are part of Seacoast as a whole. High
school students who don’t normally attend church with their families are still
welcome to come, and there will be a designated HSM section for these students.
The next Worship Together Weekends are November 4th & December 2nd.
